Pavel Alexandrov Kabadzhov
It is so hard for me to tell you my dear baby Pavel’s story, because we have been fighting for more than a year for the health of our child since his birth last May, for his prospects of living a normal life. Pavel is the child I have longed for and prayed for my whole life. My pregnancy with him was a long and arduous time and he was prematurely born in the beginning of the seventh month.
Pavel has had many medical issues and undergone various treatments already in his young life. After a heavy brain hemorrhage, there was a formation of several cysts in his brain, which impacted his motor center. Within his first year, we met with a large number of medical specialists - neonatologists, pediatricians, neurologists, orthopedists, ophthalmologists, physical therapists, and the list goes on - and the diagnosis they ultimately gave him was spastic quadriparesis (a weakness and a partial loss of function in all of his limbs).
Although our dear boy has had daily physical therapy with a wonderful specialist, as well as undergoing therapeutic swimming, he is still struggling and lagging significantly in regards to his motor skills - both the gross and fine ones. He also needs to be monitored by a speech therapist for evaluation of his speech ability and emotional development.
It is beyond our financial abilities to cover all of his needed therapy sessions. We do not want to stop any of his treatments, as they are all extremely important for his physical and mental development, and we are also looking at other options to help Pavel on his track to compensate for all deficits. We have been in contact with the RIBEM Therapy Center in Turkey, which specializes in toddler and young child motor deficits. They prepare individual motor therapy program featuring specialized exercises for positioning, balance, coordination, and muscle strengthening for a complex improvement of the child’s motor skills. Each visit to the RIBEM Therapy Center consists of a two-week treatment plan, with two therapy sessions a day – a physical therapy session and an ergotherapy session. The specialists are advising visits of minimum a year for optimal results. While in Istanbul, Turkey, we will also take Pavel to consultations with their best specialists in the fields of neurology, orthopedics, and speech therapy.
The funds necessary for Pavel’s treatment are around 30,000 Euro - that amount includes two-week visits to the RIBEM Therapy Center each month, various doctor’s visits with a neurologist, ophthalmologist, and orthopedist, as well as the purchase of specialized orthopedic splints, braces, and ortheses, as well as various required therapy sessions, swimming sessions, ergotherapy, specialized education and speech therapist in Bulgaria.
These therapy sessions are quite costly and need to be intensively applied at this exact stage in Pavel’s development, while he is still very young and his brain is still developing. We turn to all of you good people with good hearts, with the plea to help him fight so he can have a chance to walk and have a better and happier childhood and, ultimately, a better life.
Any and all donations will help – both big and small. We know it in our hearts that our little smiling sunshine boy will overcome these hardships in his development, and we will do everything in our power to give him the best chance we possibly can.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
